John Trengove Wins First Feature Award at BFI London Film Fest

Emerging South African filmmaker John Trengove has won the Sutherland Prize for Best First Feature at the 2017 BFI London Film Festival.

John was awarded the accolade for his debut feature Wound, which tells the story of a lonely factory worker who travels to the rural mountains with the men of his community to initiate a group of teenage boys into manhood.

The film has enjoyed a successful festival run since its nominations at Sundance and Berlin earlier this year, including wins at the Durban International Film Festival, Frameline San Francisco LGBTQ Film Festival and Torino International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
