France is sending a strong lineup to the 70th Locarno Film Festival, including films from emerging directors Samuel Jouy, Nadir Moknèche and Sarah Arnold.
Jouy is premiering his new film Sparring, about a washed up boxer who, at the twilight of his career, is asked to become sparring partner of the great champion Tarek M’Bareck.
Lola Pader from director Nadir Moknèche also screens at Locarno, which is about a young man who searches for his father only to discover that he has transitioned to a woman. Moknèche made an impression back in 2007, winning the Lumiere Award for Best French Language Film. Sarah Arnold is bringing her latest short Fabula Rasa. Arnold’s 2014 short film Totem won the Golden Pardino Leopards of Tomorrow award at the Locarno International Film Festival
