Super Dark Times from cinematographer and director Kevin Philips has won the top feature film award at the 17th Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland.
His debut film, which premiered at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam earlier this year, is set in the 1990s and tells the story of two teenage friends whose lives are altered by an unexpected act of violence. The jury stated that “The Award for Best Film goes to a film that grabbed us by its psychological complexity. It starts out like a regular coming of age film but opens up to a disturbing questioning of human identity. With a lot subtlety, the film portrays the change of a friend into a monster.”
Kevin was nominated for a Cannes Discovery Award in 2015 for his short Too Cool for School.
