Mutt is directed by Erin Sanger and screens on June 23. Mutt is about Tom who enlists the help of his daughter Lindsey in staging an intervention for his alcoholic son, Michael. The plan derails when they discover Michael has grown attached to a mutt he has taken off the street. As Lindsey and Tom try to convince Michael to give up the dog and enter treatment, long-brewing family tensions finally erupt.
Erin’s short Mutt was nominated for the Grand Jury Award at SXSW Film Festival this year. Previous awards or nominations for Erin include for her successful short documentary The Next Part, which won both the Jury Award and Short Film Award at the Austin Film Festival in 2014 and; the Audience Choice Award at Sidewalk Film Festival in 2014; a Special Mention at Tribeca Film Festival in 2014, where is was also nominated for Jury Award. Her short drama Bombshell (2012) won the Iris Prize at the Iris Prize Festival in 2014 and won the King Award and Wasserman Award at the First Run Festival in 2013. Erin Sanger is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker. Erin graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2012, earning a BFA in Film & Television production. She was commissioned to write a feature for the producers of MUD and 127 HOURS and directs branded content for various production companies in New York. She is developing her first feature, which was one of four scripts selected for the 2017 IRIS Screenwriting Lab.
