‘Jasper Jones’ from Aussie Rachel Perkins Sells U.S Rights to Film Movement

Jasper Jones, the next feature from Australian director Rachel Perkins, will have a U.S release later this year, according to Variety.

Film Movement will distribute the film in the U.S, which is based on the best-selling Australian novel by Craig Silvey and stars Levi Miller, Hugo Weaving and Toni Collette. Jasper Jones is a coming of age story about 14-year old Charlie Bucktin who with a mixed race boy discover the body of a murdered girl.

This is Rachel’s fourth feature after her award-winning stint directing episodes for the ABC Australia TV Series Redfern Now, which won her an Australian Director’s Guild Award in 2014. Her first feature was Radiance (1998), followed by One Night the Moon (2001) and Brand Nue Dae (2009).
