Qui Yang’s ‘A Gentle Night’ Named Best Short Film at Cannes

A Gentle Night, from Chinese director Qui Yang has been awarded the prestigious Best Short Film at the 70th Cannes Film Festival.

His 15-minute short is set in a nameless Chinese city, and tells the story of a mother with her daughter missing, who refuses to go gentle into this good night. Qui Yang’s previous short film Under The Sun screened at the Cannes Film Festival and AFI Fest in 2015.

Meanwhile Teppo Airaksinen’s Katto earned a Short Film Special Mention.
