Indian actor and director Konkona Sensharma has won the best director prize for her directorial debut A Death in the Gunj at the 2017 New York Indian Film Festival over the weekend.
The 110-minute film tells the story of a shy young Indian student whose life slowly falls to pieces during a family road trip. Konkona also won the best actress award for her role in Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha which screened at the festival.
Konkona has received numerous accolades as an actress including major awards at the Indian National Film Awards and the Awards of the International Indian Film Academy
