#screensparks: Geremy Jasper’s ‘Patti Cake$’ Debut to Close Cannes Directors’ Fortnight

PattiCake$, the debut feature from American filmmaker Geremy Jasper, has been selected as the closing film at next month’s Cannes Film Festival Directors Fortnight.

Geremy was awarded the Directors to Watch Prize at the 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival for PattiCake$ as well as a Sundance Grand Jury nomination in the dramatic category. The film was acquired by Fox Searchlight in a $10.5 million dollar deal.

The film also stars Australian actress Danielle McDonald as an aspiring rapper in New Jersey. The script was a 2014 SF Film Society & KRF Filmmaking Grant winner. Geremy’s previous shorts were Outlaws and Glamouriety.
