First-time filmmaker Dash Shaw’s My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea will open in limited release this weekend.
The ground breaking animated film wowed festival audiences last year, screening at the Toronto International Film Festival and earning lucrative nominations at AFI Fest and the Philadelphia International Film Festival.
With a star-filled voice over cast such as Jason Schwartzman, Reggie Watts, Maya Rudolph, Lena Dunham and Susan Sarandon as the lunch lady, the story follows Dash as he struggles to keep himself afloat, literally and figuratively, after his entire high school breaks off and drifts into the middle of the sea following an earthquake.
Dash’s debut animated short Seraph was nominated for a Grand Jury prize at Sundance in 2013.
