Australians in Film (AiF), the US-based organization that fosters Australian screen talent, named its list of screenwriters awarded as part of the 2017 Gateway LA Script Development Program.
Known in Hollywood as ‘The Aussie List’, Gateway LA has named 8 scripts including an overall winner, which this year went to screenwriting duo Penelope Chai and Matteo R. Bernardini for Cinderella Must Die — an upside down-style rendition of the classic fairytale.
AiF launched the program in 2015 with the first prize awarded to Yolanda Ramke for Cargo, which recently wrapped production starring Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Sherlock) in the lead role (pictured).
The other scripts on the 2017 list include:
Bells Gap by Polly Staniford (Television)
Cured by Joe Osborn (Television)
Lucid by Philip Tarl Denson (Feature)
My Fist Your Face by Greta Harrison & Matthew C. Vaughan (Television)
Nomad by Maziar Lahooti (Feature)
Prosthetic by Adam Bustin (Feature)
