#screensparks: kristóf deák wins oscar for best live action short

Hungarian director Kristóf Deák’s live-action short film Sing (Mindenki) has won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Sing tells the story of Zsofi who is admitted to her new school’s famous choir but soon learns of the cruel ways of their choir director.

Sing won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Kids category, the Grand Prix prize at the Short Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo and the Adult Jury Prize in the Live-action Short Film category at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival.
