#screensparks: rachel perkin’s ‘jasper jones’ opens in australia next month

The next feature from Australian director Rachel Perkins Jasper Jones opens across Australia on March 2.

Based on the best-selling Australian novel by Craig Silvey and starring Levi Miller, Hugo Weaving and Toni Collette, Jasper Jones is a coming of age story about 14-year old Charlie Bucktin who with a mixed race boy discover the body of a murdered girl.

This is Rachel’s fourth feature after her award-winning stint directing episodes for the ABC TV Series Redfern Now, which won her an Australian Director’s Guild Award in 2014. Her first feature was Radiance (1998), followed by One Night the Moon (2001) and Brand Nue Dae (2009).

Jasper Jones is being released by Mad Man Entertainment.
