Daniel Mulloy has won the award for Best British Short at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts 70th anniversary event in London.
Mulloy’s winning short film Home, which stars Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), focused on timely themes such as immigration and the plight of refugees fleeing troubled homelands. Home also won the London-based director a Special Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival over the weekend.
He graduated from the Slate School of Fine Arts and has won over 60 major awards including an earlier BAFTA award as well as a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for Antonio’s Breakfast in 2006. Mulloy is the brother of Una Noche (2012) director Lucy Molly.
Director Anushka Kishani Naanayakkara also scored the BAFTA Award for Best British Animation short for ‘A Love Story’ at this year’s event.
