#screensparks: garth davis wins dga for best first time feature director

Australian director Garth Davis has won the best first time feature director prize at the 2017 Directors Guild of America Awards in Los Angeles.

Davis has been nominated in two categories for his critical and audience hit Lion, which stars Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, including Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film, which was eventually awarded to La La Land director Damian Chazelle.

Davis is a well-known TV and commercials director, including helming several episodes of Top of The Lake, where he was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy.
