#screensparks: ifc midnight acquires damien power’s ‘the killing ground’

IFC Midnight has bought the US and Canada rights to the Australian horror/thriller The Killing Ground, according to TheWrap.

The film, which premiered at Sundance, is the debut from Australian writer-director Damien Power and stars Aaron Pedersen, Ian Meadows, Harriet Dyer and Aaron Glenane. Damien told Deadline recently that he wanted The Killing Ground to be an “old-school survival thriller. There’s a long tradition in Australian cinema about white Australians and the sense of unease in the landscape, in the bush.”

Damien, who grew up in Tasmania, has produced several shorts in recent years including Bat Eyes, Boot and Peekaboo and is a graduate of the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
