#screensparks: heartstone earns a gold q award at chicago film fest

Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson’s ‘Heartstone’ has won the Gold Q Hugo Award at the 52nd Chicago International Film Festival. The award is handed out to films that feature LGBT stories and perspectives. The Icelandic director’s debut feature is the story of two boys who develop a strong friendship growing up in a small Icelandic fishing village. The work is Guðmundur’s follow up to ‘Whale Valley’, a short that wowed the festival scene in 2013, including being nominated for a best short Palme d’Or at Cannes.
