#screensparks: toby fell-holden notches a stellar year

Starting with a high profile nomination at the British Independent Film Awards, British filmmaker Toby Fell-Holden capped off a successful run with his short Balcony by winning at the Calgary International Film Festival, qualifying it for the Academy Awards.

The 17-minute short, which follows the problematic relationship between a local teenage girl and an Afghani immigrant in an environment filled with racial tensions, also picked up important wins in Berlin, Flickerfest and Leeds festivals.
